THIS PRIVATE CLUB PIONEER HAS BUILT SOME OF THE WORLD’S LEADING RESIDENTIAL RESORT COMMUNITIES, EVERYWERE FROM NASHVILLE AND AUSTIN TO DUBAI AND PORTUGAL. HERE ARE HIS INSIGHTS ON OW TO LIVE WELL IN THE MODERN WORLD…
01
Design.
What captivates so many about Discovery is the design. Each community, and the homes within, are custom and inspired by the culture and natural environment. I feel most at home and comfortable when the house I’m in is organic to the surroundings and I wanted to ensure that was consistent for all Discovery members. Once people visit a club, they’re inspired by the aesthetic and often choose to have Discovery design and build a home that reflects that vision. At Baker’s Bay, homes have a Bahamian style that prioritizes color and contemporary island flair. At Silo Ridge in Amenia, New York, we follow the rustic, farmhouse style of the Hudson Valley. The designs are timeless and won’t look dated 20 or 30 years from now.

03
Golf.
The golf community is a strong one and it’s one of the reasons many seek out Discovery in the first place. Not only are you getting to spend time outdoors immersed in nature, you’re getting to strengthen the connection you have with friends and family, and meet and connect with new people in a way that’s low-pressure and organic.
Of course, golf isn’t always easy. We often work with renowned architect Tom Fazio to design our championship 18-hole golf courses to be challenging yet incredibly playable. However, we take a bit of the pressure off and design an experience that allows members to play with flexibility: no tee times and no dress code. They can choose to golf barefoot, in their bikinis, or in a T-shirt so they can relax and enjoy what really matters during the game: spending time with friends and family.
04
Amenities.
Our physical amenities at each club are outstanding, but the thing we're proudest of are the experiences we’re able to create. Our best amenity is probably an intangible one. We’ve become known for our Outdoor Pursuits programs (OP)—a team of experts and highly skilled professional guides that bring to life one-of-akind adventures. This was born out of my own desire to embark on new and fun experiences with my kids without the stress of having to plan it myself. At The Hills in the Hamptons the OP team can organize adventures in hiking, biking, luxury camping, surfing, boating, fishing, sailing, stand-up
05
Wellness.
We’ve been inspired by Blue Zones and the key role that a sense of community plays. Most people know how to live a healthy lifestyle and what they should be doing, but it’s not always easy to execute on your own. We have open-air treatment cabanas, inviting pools, Zen rooms, meditation pods, snow rooms, saunas, steam rooms, cold plunges, hyperbolic chambers, red light therapy, hot and cold treatments, and expanded wet treatments, along with proprietary massage and body care therapies. Working up the courage to cold plunge becomes a lot easier when you’re doing it with friends in a comfortable environment. Wellness continues at the table. Our chefs craft exceptional meals using only the highest-quality local, organic, and sustainable ingredients influenced by regional flavors and nutritional excellence. We make it easy so that our owners don’t have to think about it. Every dish is designed to nourish from the inside out.
